Agreed. Not interested in owning anything from that company (OS, system, or games), and they've done bad things themselves, but I'd have to say they are in the right with this move. If you agree to test with the understanding that you can't reveal secrets, then leak, you screwed up. There are consequences, and in this case your system and accounts are hosed.

In a highly monitored, locked, metal / concrete farming facility, yes. :) I would not be opposed to eating them either. However, they sound like they would be quite the pest if accidentally spread across country alive.

I had Comcast, and they did the same thing. I just cut my cable tv out completely. It wasn't that I couldn't afford it, but that the rates kept creeping up, and I had friends who had better service, more channels, etc, but somehow paid less than I was. Completely ridiculous for me to keep paying what I was, especially since 80% of the channels I had were full of crap that I don't think anyone watches, and to get the channels you want, you are forced into paying for the crap. I started watching Netflix, and all has been well. Comcast can go choke on their own garbage.

I saw that, and it is interesting. But I can't understand why the CD/DVD ROM only drive. What about DVD Dual Layer and Blu-Ray? Is a CD/DVD/Blu-Ray re-writer forbiddingly different somehow? That's a lot for a laptop that can't write DVD's or recognize Blu-Ray.

And kudos to Filippo for helping all the users out there that do not have the expertise to reinstall the same OS or install a different OS such as Linux. Although, helping them install and learn Linux would be even nicer than that malware of an OS that shipped with the systems.

I think that lining is used to prevent the acidic beverage from eating through the aluminum can. Let a tooth or something else full of calcium soak in a glass of Coke or Pepsi for 24 hours, and note how much of it is left.

Forgive me if I am missing something. But if they used an aluminum bladder in cardboard, why not just skip the cardboard, save trees, and stick with aluminum cans that we already have?

Also, what type of chemical is the cardboard treated with which makes it leak proof? Is the chemical detrimental to human health seeing as we will be ingesting some amount of it with the liquid?

They are really trying hard to match the likes of Sony with bundled malware, aren't they? I refuse to use their stuff. Haven't run a Windows box at home in years, and only ran one on the job because it was required of me.

Do you think they'll take the keylogger out of the final release, just disable it by default, or just comment out the code? I'm betting the second option as a backdoor.

It would be really exciting to find some form of life there, but maybe they just aren't in the right spot.

As far as harvesting methane...We currently keep much livestock, and I hear rant about how cows are killing the ozone. Can't we collect that bovine flatulence somehow? It might be easier and less expensive than getting it from a neighboring planet, and it doesn't seem like most in our society will be excluding beef from our diet anytime soon. Why not get the most out of the cows as possible? I guess PETA would would be like, "THAT'S THEIR GAS, YOU GIVE IT BACK TO THE COWS!!!"

In elementary school we went down to the computer lab once a week for educational games on an Apple IIe, or at least some Apple variant. It was like 2nd or 3rd grade. We learned how to handle and load the games off the 5 1/4 inch disks. Lots of fun :) I can't believe they trusted us with that back then. I bet it was expensive stuff for kids to break.

While the thought of totalitarian society is scary and deplorable, some people who do terrible things compulsively actually realize they are terrible things, don't want to do said things, but can't fight the urge. They may welcome a device which helps them alleviate the desire to commit those acts. IF these things were developed and used without abuse, they might not be so bad.

Yep, I see no need to get a smart phone. And I see even less need to get a smart watch. If it's tethered to the phone to provide any functionality, then why would you need it? Doesn't the phone do that? They were right in calling it digital perfume.

Likewise, I'm down to a Linux box and a Blu-ray player, both of which run Netflix just fine. I set up a Roku for some friends of mine, and they love it. I almost bought one because I found the near unlimited free channels intriguing.

I plugged my DESKTOP into my TV via HDMI. I do everything I could ever want on my TV that I did on a PC monitor without restriction of functionality or ability to update software. I will NEVER buy a Smart** TV...EVAR!!!

It's directed at these two companies simply because they have competing mobile GPUs: Snapdragon(Adreno), and Exynos. I'd never heard of Exynos, but I think the Snapdragon was gaining ground. The first Nexus 7 had Tegra, while the second had Snapdragon.

On the contrary, Android has done quite well. A lot of people do buy apple products just because they think it's cool, hip, the best, or that there is no other choice (even though the educated know there are good alternatives). I've been very happy with my Android tablet. It doesn't do everything, but I still find it useful, and it's not an apple product.

People cried, the tablet is the new PC, and PCs are dead. I said Baloney. The only reason PC sales dipped and tablet sales spiked was because it was the hot new toy, everyone wanted one, and for some stupid reason everyone thought they could do just as much with a tablet as they could a desktop/laptop. And there is a lot you can do with a tablet, but it will not replace the desktop. I am not going to write and edit large documents on any sort of tablet. I will not do most of my gaming on a tablet. I will not administer numerous Linux and Windows boxes/VMs on a tablet. I'm not going to develop or compile code on a tablet. You can make it as powerful as you like, but the interface isn't sufficient, and like many have pointed out above, the battery life would suck, or more accurately, be sucked.

I like astronomy as well :D Maybe people like the article or subject, but they don't feel competent enough to post discussion on it. Maybe an article rating system would be nice, but isn't that how the articles get published to begin with? People thumbs up what they want published from the pipe?

It amazes me how exponentially crazy the size of OSes have grown as well, especially Windows. I realize there is added functionality in each new version (ok, this could be argued :D), and increased resolution in packaged images, but why the many GB in increase? Why the bloat? Linux seems to be outgrowing the CD now with many mainstream distros requiring a DVD (if you don't count minimal CLI installs), but would it kill to focus more on efficiency in software size and even function?
